Doc’s Story

As An

Athlete

Like most youth athletes, my athletic career began in my backyard. I would eventually move on to compete in college, but turned pro as a medic for the United States Army. Throughout my athletic career, I competed in basketball, football, and track & field. Track & field was my most decorated sport. I received various awards throughout the years, including a 2nd place finish in the high jump in the Georgia State Games at the age of 12 and a 4th place Cobb County Championship finish in the triple jump during high school. For the later performance, I was also given the Most Outstanding Performance as a team award. I also competed at the University of Georgia in track & field. In basketball, I was a part of the first ever State Championship for our high school. And in football, I received player of the week honors as a member of a Sub-region Championship team.

As A

Medic

Nine months and three days after September 11, 2001, I raised my right hand and swore to defend this nation against all enemies—foreign and domestic. Two things happened that day. I joined the United States Army to become a medic, and my medical career began. Upon swearing in, I falsely assumed that America's most fierce enemy inhabited the

deserts of Southwest Asia, but the United States was invaded by our worst enemy long before 9/11. I never considered the enemy that I needed to face was already living in our neighborhoods in the form of non-communicable diseases, divorce, poverty, and poor knowledge. Continuing my education is my most powerful weapon.

I am a perpetual learner that fell in love with health and fitness in elementary school. So far, I have devoted about 3 decades of learning toward understanding how to maximize the health and performance of the mind, body, and spirit, but my journey is not over yet.

Twenty years from now, I would love to be the CEO of a military/government health care system. Becoming the ideal Health Care CEO requires the accomplishment of a few educational goals, to include completing the Doctor of Chiropractic, Doctor of Osteopathic, Master of Public Health, and PhD in Christian Leadership degrees. This is a long educational process that will educate me on the journey that health providers must complete in order to serve.

Along the way, I would love to connect with you. No matter where you are in your health journey or health care career.

about doc

I am a perpetual learner that fell in love with health and fitness in elementary school.

Assigned to HHB 5/52 as a combat medic and completed the first of my two deployments in support of OIF/OEF. In addition to my day job, I also assisted EP Fitness members in developing and reaching their personal fitness and healthy living goals.

reasons for

success

In addition to being a perpetual learner, God gave me an entrepreneurial spirit and great management talent that—when used—bring order and harmony to the chaos of young ventures. The ability to identify employee strengths and match each employee with their most natural role is my key to success. When organizations have good people creating smart processes, they can inspire stakeholders to achieve unimaginable visions. I have created several productive and profitable teams throughout my career and believe serving the server is the key to growing any organization.

My main leadership concerns have been staff development and the disproportional distribution of wealth within the health care, sports, and fitness industries. We brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out (1 Timothy 6:7 HCSB); therefore, we should compensate our employees generously. In addition, talent development programs should imbue staff members with the skills and tools they need to become highly successful.

Proper development and fair wages ensure the maximization of the ventures' long-term profitability. My goal, as a future health care leader, is to bring the health services and business practices under the submission of biblical principles. Health care workers are stewards of God's creations and His gifts. The health care industry should reflect this idea. This starts with my example.
